Job Description

Looking for an enthusiastic self-starter that can work in a team with direct supervision in an environment with many distractions and interruptions.  Superior organization skills, excellent time management and the ability to change tasks and projects quickly will be a must.  This individual will start as a part-time employee with potential for full-time.




Duties And Responsibilities:




Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.  Coordinate store activities and special projects to ensure quality and meet timetables.  Evaluate store processes and procedures.  Recommend and coordinate needed changes based on process analysis.  Direct, coordinate and supervise staff in store in accordance with store policies and procedures.  Involved in staff scheduling including, work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacation, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees and shift rotations.   Communicate and coordinate with other supervisors and management.  Must be able to open and/or close the store following all established policies and procedures without supervision.



Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs.  Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits.  Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.  Computer sales prices, total purchases and receive and process cash or credit payment.  Maintain records related to sales.  Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations.  Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.  Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.  Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.  Ticket, arrange and display merchandise to promote sales.  Prepare sales slips or sales contracts.  Place special orders or call other stores to find desired items.  Demonstrate use or operation of merchandise.  Clean shelves, counters and tables as needed or directed.  Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returns.  Bag or package purchases, and wrap gifts.  Help customers try on or fit merchandise. Inventory stock and requisition new stock. Prepare merchandise for purchase.  Sell or arrange for delivery for merchandise.  Estimate cost of repair or alteration of merchandise.  Other duties as assigned.  




Position Requirements:




Must work well under pressure and maintain composure in dynamic environment.  Detail oriented, focused, personable, timely individual who is good at multitasking and prioritizing.  Interest in management or supervisor career in a retail environment is a plus.  At least 2 years of experience in retail sales / customer service in a supervisorial role required.  2-year college degree required.  




Knowledge and Skill Requirements
:



Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.  Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.  The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand with ability to speak clearly.  Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.  This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.  Knowledge of principles and process for providing customer and personal services.  This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.   




Working Conditions:




Working conditions are normal for a retail business environment.  The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time with “giving out” or fatiguing.  Business casual / Anything Canine shirts are required.  Hairstyle, jewelry, makeup and other wearable accessories must all be business professional at all times.
